Dental Services

A dental clinic for all people with developmental disabilities is held on Mondays at Creative Community Living’s Meyer Hall in Winfield. Individuals who are unable to locate affordable, timely dental services from a community dentist are welcome.

A dentist is assisted by CCL nursing staff members during the clinic. They are experienced at providing dental care for individuals with developmental disabilities, including those in wheelchairs who are unable to sit in a regular dental chair.

The clinic’s fees are private pay. They are based on the actual costs of operating the clinic and a small surcharge to repair or replace equipment.

Additional services are offered on a limited basis.

When Winfield State Hospital closed in the late 1990s, many of the residents moved to community settings in the area. The dental care they had previously received was no longer available, so Creative Community Living and Martin Luther Homes of Kansas (now known as Mosaic) opened this clinic. Initial equipment was purchased with a grant from the United Methodist Health Ministry Fund. In May 2007, CCL became the sole owner of the clinic. New equipment was purchased with funding by Cowley County Developmental Services.

Individuals or agencies interested in more information about services may contact Ethel Gates, CCL’s director of nursing, or Amber Crowl at (620) 221-9431. E-mail messages may be sent to acrowl@cclccl.org
