Phil and Frances Kottler of Wichita are the parents of Bruce who resides in CCL’s duplex on Chicago Street in Winfield. Phil, a retired accountant, and Frances not only visit Bruce frequently and attend CCL activities but also volunteer their services to benefit other clients.
“The Kottlers phoned me one day this summer to ask if CCL had assisted individuals to file a federal tax return in order to obtain the tax stimulus refunds,” wrote Linda Misasi in her nomination form. “CCL had not assisted individuals to do so as we do not have someone on staff with the expertise needed. Phil and Frances volunteered to come to Winfield and complete the necessary forms for any and all who qualified.
“The Kottlers researched what information was needed in order to complete the task and informed me so I could collect it from case managers,” she said. “On August 25, the Kottlers came to Winfield and in the matter of a few hours had completed 39 returns for the individuals to receive the tax stimulus refund. If all completed receive the $300, this work will bring a total of $11,700 to the individuals!”
Phil and Frances have given generous financial gifts to CCL in recent years to assist needy clients and have offered to complete sales tax refund paperwork for individuals in 2009.
“This ongoing relationship is of great value to CCL and the individuals served,” Linda said.
